About Veldovna

Veldovna is a small independent publication about consumer security software, published from Prague by CLEAN STANDARD s.r.o.. We explain how the tools work, what they genuinely do for you, and where the marketing outruns the product.
Why the site exists
Consumer security is sold almost entirely on fear. Countdown timers, red warning banners, pages that claim to have scanned a computer they cannot see — the category has a long history of techniques that would be unacceptable in most other retail markets. The result is that people buy things they do not need, miss the things they do, and end up worse protected than if they had read one clear page.
That clear page is what we are trying to write. It means explaining the mechanism rather than listing features, and saying out loud when the answer is that you already have what you need.
How we are paid, stated plainly
The site is funded by partner (affiliate) commissions. If you follow a marked partner link and subscribe to something, the merchant pays us a commission; you pay the same price either way. Every such link is labelled, on every page, in every position including sidebars.
We take no payment for coverage and publish no sponsored articles. No vendor sees an article before publication. The editorial policy sets out the whole arrangement, including a list of things we refuse to do at any price — invented ratings, fake testimonials, artificial urgency and guaranteed-result claims among them.
The honest test of that independence is whether we publish things that cost us money. Our main article contains a section explaining that many readers do not need to buy antivirus at all, because Windows, macOS and Android already ship with protection. That section stays.
Who writes it
Oliver Cook is the director of publication and responsible editor. Every article carries a named byline and a date. Editorial correspondence goes directly to the editor at info@veldovna.online and is not routed through a marketing desk.
What we do not do
- We run no tests of our own, and we do not pretend otherwise. We point to the independent laboratories that do — AV-TEST, AV-Comparatives, SE Labs — and we explain how to read their reports.
- We publish no scores. No stars, no marks out of ten. A single number hides the only useful question, which is whether a product matches your situation.
- We publish no testimonials. None, from anyone. It is the easiest thing in this industry to fabricate, so we removed the category entirely.
- We invent no statistics. If a figure appears here without a named source and a date, it is an error and we want to hear about it.
How the site is built
It is a set of static HTML files. There is no database, no login, no comment system and no form handler. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, contains no advertising pixel and makes no request to any third-party server — no web fonts, no CDN, no remote images. Everything the page loads comes from this domain.
That is not a slogan; the cookie policy tells you which developer tools panel to open to check it in under a minute, and the two JavaScript files are short, unminified and readable: /js/site.js and /js/cta.js.
All illustrations are original SVG diagrams drawn for this site. We use no stock photography, no vendor artwork and no product screenshots.
